Claims Director
Reports to: Vice President, Chief Claims Officer
Basic Function:
The Claims Director is a front-line Manager responsible for assisting in the delivery of team objectives by developing, managing, and motivating engaged, high-performance claims professionals and a paralegal. This person combines excellent technical claims handling, people management, and leadership skills. The Claims Director provides managerial support, guidance, and mentorship to his/her team. General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drives employee engagement, adjuster/claims attorney/paralegal development, and team performance and growth.
- Drives Key Performance Indicators and adherence to EIM's Best Practices through managerial diary and file audits.
- Reviews coverage analyses drafted by team.
- Drives litigation management behaviors.
- Identifies and provides solutions for key issues and trends to senior claims management.
- Allocates new incoming claims, reopened claims, and claims that may need to transfer due to severity.
- Assists VP in preparing and presenting reserve analyses and claims trends.
- Takes an active role in the Claims/Underwriting/Actuarial feedback loop.
- Plays an active role in recruitment and on-boarding.
- Coordinates with Finance to ensure efficient management of cash flow needs for claim payments.
- Regularly reports to and updates reinsurers on claim Supervises reinsurers' audits.
- Participates in refinement of claims operations, including development of methods that will assist in analytics.
- Oversees First Notice of Loss processes.
- Brings ideas to improve efficiencies and develop methods to improve
- Participates in yearly review of panel counsel performance and works with support staff to establish any billing or compliance issues that need to be addressed during annual reviews.

- Prepares appropriate documentation of claim
- Collaborates to update guidelines
- Assists with quarterly reports to Claims Committee / Board.
- Participates in presentations to, and one-on-one meetings with,
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for claims
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- 10+ years of Claims handling experience.
- A JD from an ABA accredited law school.
- 5+ years of Claims Management experience.
- Leadership and people management skills.
- Expert knowledge of Claims handling practices to include: coverage analysis, litigation management and negotiation.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong rapport-building and relationship effectiveness skills.
