Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Statutory Reporting Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, with a focus on statutory reporting requirements within the insurance industry. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely preparation of statutory financial statements, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze financial data and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Actuarial, Finance, and Legal teams, to gather necessary data and ensure accuracy of financial reporting.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of statutory accounting principles and stay updated on changes in regulations impacting the insurance industry.
- Conduct detailed analysis of financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory changes, ensuring compliance and adherence to best practices.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on statutory reporting matters, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in statutory reporting within the insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of statutory accounting principles and regulatory requirements (e.g., NAIC, GAAP).
- Proficiency in financial reporting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with a commitment to accuracy and precision.
