Job Title: Senior Accounting Manager - Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance Carrier

Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid Schedule)

Overview: As a Senior Accounting Manager at our Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance Carrier based in Atlanta, GA, you will lead our accounting team in managing financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving strategic initiatives to optimize financial performance. With your CPA qualification, extensive experience in the insurance industry, and proven leadership skills, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing statutory reports, and guiding the organization towards sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting and Compliance:

    • Oversee the preparation and filing of statutory reports in compliance with state insurance regulations and guidelines.
    • Ensure adherence to statutory accounting principles and regulatory requirements, including NAIC reporting standards.
    • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audit processes and address any compliance issues.
  2. Team Leadership and Management:

    • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, support, and feedback to foster professional growth and development.
    • Delegate responsibilities effectively, setting clear objectives and performance expectations for team members.
    • Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability, and excellence in performance.
  3. Financial Operations Management:

    • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and reconciliations.
    • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
    • Streamline financial processes and systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of operations.
  4. Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop financial plans, targets, and performance metrics.
    • Prepare financial forecasts and variance analyses to support decision-making and identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
    • Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations to management to achieve financial goals.
  5. Strategic Planning and Analysis:

    • Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations to senior management based on thorough analysis of business performance, market trends, and industry benchmarks.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate business initiatives, assess financial implications, and support strategic decision-making processes.
    • Identify areas for process improvement and drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification required.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting roles within the P&C insurance industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity, demonstrating strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proven expertise in statutory reporting, with comprehensive knowledge of state insurance regulations and NAIC reporting requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with insurance-specific software is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid schedule, balancing remote and onsite work as required.
