The Role: Director - Accounting Policy
We are seeking a technically strong and commercially aware Director of Accounting Policy to join the Group Finance team. This role will play a key part in interpreting and implementing accounting standards, supporting business units with complex transactions, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, including M&A, structured finance, and new product initiatives.
- Monitor and interpret changes in IFRS and other relevant accounting standards, assessing their impact on the business.
- Draft and maintain accounting policy documentation and ensure consistent application across the group.
- Partner with internal stakeholders including Group Reporting, Risk, Legal, and Business Units to provide accounting insights and support.
- Support external reporting processes and liaise with auditors and regulators as needed.
Key Requirements
- Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, CPA) with significant post-qualification experience in technical accounting or policy roles.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and experience in a complex, regulated environment (e.g., banking, insurance, or financial services).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders.
- Experience working in a matrixed organization or across multiple jurisdictions is advantageous.
