CFO / Head of Finance - Startup Insurance Company
About the role:
This is a newly evolved position that will assume the Head of Finance role for a small insurance carrier writing approximately $50million in premium. This role supports the CEO and will eventually assume the role of CFO for the Business.
Compensation on offer ranges from $180-220k plus bonus. The role is open to remote candidates however weekly trips to Jersey City will be required.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead financial close and preparation of financial statements for both US GAAP financial statements.
- Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO and executive team for strategic planning and commercial decision making.
- Lead and develop a small team of accounting professionals.
- Develop financial control and processes to ensure company is compliant with SOC and SOX requirements.
- Perform a variety of analysis to support a growing business including segment, industry, peer and ad hoc analysis
- Create and continuously improve processes
- Lead a growing team providing effective coaching and prioritization of deliverable
Required qualifications and credentials:
- CPA, MBA or Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
- Recent insurance industry experience is strongly desired.
- Prior experience working in a Senior Finance or Accounting position with tangible experience in Accounting under US GAAP and US Statutory Accounting principles.
- Strong leadership capabilities and willingness to be hands on driving execution and change where needed
- Financial change and accounting system implementation experience
- Strong presentation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
