We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Property Accountant to join a team focused in industrial, multifamily, and office Property Accounting with a growing Real Estate Private Equity Firm in Dallas.

The firm has raised billions in equity and manages a diverse portfolio of high-performing assets.

Job Title: Senior Property Accountant

Job Summary:
Join a prominent real estate private equity firm with a diverse portfolio spanning industrial, multifamily, and office properties. This position offers an exciting opportunity to assist with the property accounting for industrial warehouse assets. The Senior Property Accountant will play a vital role in the firm's accounting team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, lease administration, and compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting:

    • Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and property reports for assigned industrial properties, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established accounting standards.
    • Review property-level financial statements to ensure data integrity and adherence to firm policies.
  • Tenant Billing & Receivables:

    • Oversee tenant billing and collections processes, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and reporting.
    • Track tenant receivables, manage outstanding balances, and report on collection efforts.
  • Bank & Account Reconciliations:

    • Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions and alignment with property-level data.
  • Journal Entries & General Ledger Maintenance:

    • Monitor daily financial activity, recording journal entries and maintaining accurate general ledger records.
    • Ensure that all financial data is captured and reflected correctly for each property.
  • Lease Data Entry & Maintenance:

    • Input, verify, and maintain lease information in the accounting system.
    • Review lease terms, calculate rent adjustments, escalations, and other lease-related variables in accordance with lease agreements.
  • Budgeting & Reconciliation Support:

    • Assist with the preparation of property budgets and perform periodic tenant reconciliations.
    • Provide accurate data and support to ensure the firm meets its financial goals and objectives for each property.
  • Compliance & Tax Filings:

    • Support the preparation of tax filings and compliance documentation, including sales and use tax returns and 1099 filings.
    • Work closely with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  • Ad-Hoc Data Collection & Reporting:

    • Assist the team with compiling financial data and performing special analyses for various projects and reporting requirements.
    • Help prepare detailed financial reports for senior management and stakeholders as needed.
  • Collaboration with Property Management:

    • Partner with property managers to address accounting-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
    • Ensure smooth communication between accounting and property management teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience:

    • A minimum of 2 years' experience in commercial property accounting, particularly with industrial, office, or retail properties.
    • Strong background in financial reporting within a multi-entity environment, with the ability to manage multiple property portfolios.
  • Education & Certifications:

    • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
    • CPA or CPA eligibility is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Technical Skills:

    • High proficiency in Yardi accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience with additional real estate accounting systems is a plus.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills:

    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, property managers, external stakeholders, and third-party vendors.
    • Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal, is essential to the role.
  • Problem Solving & Independence:

    • Ability to work independently and efficiently solve problems, offering practical solutions in a timely manner.
    • Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
