A leading global (re)insurance group is seeking a Manager, Technical Close to join its growing Finance function in New York City. This high-impact role is focused on IFRS 17 reporting and technical analysis for complex insurance and reinsurance contracts. You'll be responsible for reviewing results, identifying variances, leading quarterly deep dives, and ensuring compliance with audit and internal control standards. The position offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally and contribute to global reporting and transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze technical results on material contracts, including identifying unexpected movements or outcomes and recommending alternative treatments where applicable.

  • Lead preparation and discussion of premium and technical results in weekly closing meetings with group stakeholders, providing insights versus plan and prior periods.

  • Conduct quarterly reviews of contract treatments and accounting estimates to ensure accurate reporting with no material misstatements.

  • Prepare and present IFRS 17 result analyses, including changes (AoC) and rollforwards (RFs), ensuring reconciliations to IFRS 4 with minimal variances.

  • Review and provide coaching on work prepared by junior staff, ensuring quality and consistency.

  • Support new team members through training and onboarding, including tools, systems, and process overviews.

  • Collaborate in group communications and events (townhalls, finance updates, investor days), integrating industry insights into financial analysis.

  • Compile quarterly clearance packages and provide clear, business-driven commentary on financial outcomes.

  • Maintain compliance with ICS requirements and respond to internal/external audit requests.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • 5-10+ years of accounting experience, ideally within insurance or reinsurance.

  • Familiarity with IFRS 17 highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead or coach junior staff.

  • Strong financial statement analysis and technical accounting skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.

  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak close cycles.

  • Must be able to relocate to New York City; business travel may be required until fully based there.

  • TN Visa sponsorship available for qualified Canadian and Mexican citizens.
