Position Overview: The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role will involve managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and implementing financial controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property and casualty insurance, exceptional leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.
- Manage the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Analyze financial data and create reports for senior management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to the finance team.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall company goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3-5 years in a controller role within the property and casualty insurance industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
- Proven experience in financial statement preparation, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
