Chief Data Scientist

One of the largest AI driven insurance companies in the world are looking to grow their Data Science teams nationwide and are looking for a Chief Data Scientist to lead proactive build and re-build strategy for the existing data science foundation within the organization. Predictive model development efforts and machine learning initiatives that address risk management improvement and mitigation opportunities are at the forefront of the business focus.

ML/AI etc. Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and building end-to-end data pipelines for large-scale data processing and analysis.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing advanced predictive models using machine learning and statistical techniques.
  • Proficient in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to extract insights from unstructured data sources and text mining.
  • Segmentation/Clustering experience: Strong background in applying segmentation and clustering algorithms to uncover patterns and derive actionable insights from complex datasets.
  • Extensive experience in developing fraud detection models and implementing fraud prevention strategies within the insurance industry.
  • Experience in integrating and leveraging third-party data sources, such as claims datasets, Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) data, etc., to enhance data analysis and modeling capabilities.
  • Proficient in working with both structured and unstructured data sets, applying appropriate techniques to extract meaningful insights.

Team:

  • Previous experience in leading and managing a data science team, overseeing their work, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop data science professionals, supporting their growth and career progression.
  • Experience in managing and coordinating offshore teams to deliver high-quality data science projects.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling and growing a data science team, expanding its capabilities from X to Y individuals.
  • Directly manage and provide guidance to data scientists, data engineers, and other relevant team members, ensuring their work aligns with strategic objectives.

Immediate/Future Responsibilities and Roles:

  • Take ownership of establishing or enhancing the foundational elements of the data science function, including processes, tools, and infrastructure.
  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced predictive models to support business objectives, leveraging the latest techniques and technologies.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define and execute the data science strategy, enabling data-driven decision-making and innovation across the organization.
  • Establish and enforce data science best practices, ensuring high-quality standards, reproducibility, and scalability of models and analyses.
  • Review and provide feedback on the work of fellow data scientists, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Engage with clients and prospects, demonstrating the value of data science solutions and advising on the application of advanced analytics to address business challenges.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience leading teams of 10+ individuals.
  • Experience in the Insurance Domain/Claims Management.
  • Experience leading predictive analytics projects (end-to-end model building, design, and deployment).
  • High-level understanding of multiple insurance domains and workers' compensation programs.
