Responsibilities:
As a BI Developer specialising in data warehouse migration and ETL construction, you will play a pivotal role in modernising our data infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement scalable data solutions that empower the organisation to make informed strategic decisions. Your expertise in Snowflake, ETL processes, and DBT will be critical in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and accessibility of our data.
- Data Warehouse Migration:
- Lead the migration of our existing data warehouse to Snowflake, ensuring a seamless transition while optimising for performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to understand data requirements, mapping, and transformation needs during the migration process.
- Design and implement an effective migration strategy, considering data validation, error handling, and migration rollback procedures.
- ETL development with DBT:
- Develop and maintain ETL processes using DBT to transform, clean, and enrich raw data from various sources into well-structured, reliable datasets.
- Create data models and transformations within DBT, adhering to best practices for maintainability, modularity, and performance optimisation.
- Collaborate with data analysts to understand their reporting requirements and ensure the ETL processes deliver accurate and timely data for their analyses.
- Performance Optimisation:
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks within the ETL processes and data models, optimising for query speed and resource utilization.
- Monitor and fine-tune Snowflake performance to ensure queries and transformations are running efficiently.
- Documentation and Communication:
- Document the design, development, and deployment processes of ETL pipelines and data models for knowledge sharing and future reference.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex concepts into understandable insights.
Qualifications:
- 5 Years of proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Engineer, with a strong focus on ETL processes and data warehouse migration.
- In-depth expertise in Snowflake data warehousing platform.
- Proficiency in building and maintaining ETL processes using DBT, Informatica, Talend, SSIS.
- Strong Python skills for data manipulation and transformation.
- Familiarity with data modelling concepts and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities in English.
