  • Reviewing financial statements and reports prepared by the team to ensure that they are accurate and in compliance with company policies and relevant regulations
  • Providing technical guidance and support to the team on complex accounting issues and transactions
  • Monitoring and enforcing compliance with GAAP and other relevant regulations, including staying up to date on changes and communicating them to the team
  • Overseeing the team's work to ensure that accounting policies and procedures are being followed consistently
  • Managing the team of accounting and administrative professionals, including setting goals and objectives, providing feedback and coaching, and evaluating performance

Required Experience

  • At least 8 years' experience in the reinsurance and insurance industry preferably in the technical accounting & administration operations
  • Technical expertise: The candidate should have a strong understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting regulations, as well as experience with complex accounting issues and transactions.
  • Organizational skills: The candidate should have strong organizational skills and be able to manage their team and workload effectively.
  • Communication skills: The candidate should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to effectively communicate accounting concepts and ideas to team members and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail: The candidate should have a high level of attention to detail and be able to accurately review financial statements and reports to ensure their accuracy and compliance
  • Leadership: As the head of the team, the candidate should have strong leadership skills and be able to motivate and guide their team towards achieving their goals.
  • Problem-solving skills: The candidate should have strong problem-solving skills and be able to identify and address accounting issues and challenges as they arise.
  • Interpersonal skills: The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in the financial services industry, preferably in insurance and/or reinsurance
  • College degree in Financial and / or accounting education preferred
