We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Accountant to join our dynamic finance team - you will play a crucial role in ensuring our company's compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and reporting standards within the insurance industry. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, auditors, and internal teams, to analyze financial data, prepare regulatory filings, and implement best practices in regulatory accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and interpret regulatory guidelines and requirements related to insurance accounting and financial reporting.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely regulatory filings, including statutory financial statements, quarterly and annual reports, and other regulatory disclosures.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as finance, risk management, and legal to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and resolve any compliance issues.
- Conduct regular reviews and audits of financial data and processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure accuracy and completeness of regulatory filings.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and procedures to mitigate regulatory risks and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in regulatory frameworks, accounting standards, and industry trends to assess their impact on the company's operations and financial reporting.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses as required by management, auditors, or regulatory authorities.
- Participate in regulatory examinations and audits, and address any findings or inquiries in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or other relevant professional certification is preferred.
- Solid understanding of insurance accounting principles, regulatory standards (e.g., NAIC, IFRS, GAAP), and reporting requirements.
- Previous experience working in regulatory accounting or financial reporting within the insurance industry is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy and completeness in regulatory filings and reports.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and financial modeling tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
