Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Assist the AVP on any M&A and reinsurance transactions, working together with corporate development on any financial due diligence reviews and develop full GAAP / P-GAAP model and review STAT/ BSCR model with target from time of agreement to closing.
- Identify any accounting issues during due diligence process and develop/integrate technical accounting policies for acquired companies, as needed.
- Work with AVP in leading the evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements relating to GAAP and Statutory accounting.
- Keep up to date on new and emerging technical accounting policy developments and related regulatory developments
- Take lead in drafting and updating of the Company's accounting policies.
- Serving as a liaison for accounting issues with both internal and external audit staff.
- Working together with financial reporting team to provide inputs on quarterly and annual financial data for GAAP and regulatory reports.
- Participating in any written correspondence with standard setters or regulators.
- Identifies accounting issues/concerns and recommends mitigation solution(s) to management.
- Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines.
Job Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in GAAP and Statutory insurance accounting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA Preferred.
- Experience with life, annuities and health insurance and reinsurance accounting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, in accordance with deadlines, and with a variety of stakeholders.
- Effective communication and relationship building skills
- Highly proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
